//applesauce is awesomesauce// an applesauce recipe

my mom makes some killer applesauce. and for that matter some killer granola. And today you're going to get her recipe for delicious, warm, and creamy homemade applesauce after i drown you in scrumptious pictures. be warned.

i LOVE this picture.minus the reflection on the bowl. :(

My Mom's Recipe for Homemade Applesauce:

Peel, core, and quarter apples. Cook them in a little bit of water in a dutch oven/6-8 quart pan with a lid. Add some cinnamon to taste and some lemon juice and pinch of salt.  When apples are tender, blend/mash with a hand blender until they are the consistency you desire. If you don't have a hand blender you can use a masher, except the consistency will be less smooth.

You can use however many apples you'd like. We usually use Gala apples, but it works great with any type! Also, we like to make ours really smooth... so smooth it feels creamy. Almost like pudding. It's really really good. :) but you can also make chunky or whatever you'd like!!!

Want the granola recipe? I'll post it soon :) maybe i'll do a picture tutorial...? anyone interested?

xoxo,
Alyssa

I LOOOOVE warm homemade applesauce. I always cook mine in the crockpot so my whole house smells amazing. Also, you can use the same recipe and if you puree it (like it sounds like you do) and spread it in a thin layer on plastic wrap on a cookie sheet and let it dry in your oven (set it to the lowest temp) then you get homemade apple fruit leather. YUM. :-)

Wow this look super yummy!! I love apple sauce though I must admit sometimes when I'm eating it I either feel like a 3 year old or an 80 year old...with no teeth haha. (Do 3 years have teeth?)
